Building

The Pod Pszczółkami tenement house was built by the Municipal Savings Bank of the Kraków District, also known as the owner of the nearby "skyscraper" at Szczepański Square. The building harmoniously fits into the local architectural context, drawing inspiration from historical styling. A clear example of this is the rich stone portal, balusters and modernized attic - elements referring to the Kraków tradition, such as the limestone portal or patterns from the "Feniks" building designed by Adolf Szyszko Bohusz.

A characteristic motif are three sculptures of bees, placed between the windows of the first and second floors. They symbolize diligence and thrift - values close to the owner of the building and popular in the decoration of Savings Bank investments. The tenement house was furnished with spacious, luxurious apartments. The most prestigious, six-room with two halls and servants' rooms, occupied the entire first floor. This was in line with the tradition of the piano nobile, i.e. the representative floor, typical of palace architecture and tenement houses for centuries.
