The housing cooperative housing estate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Szare Domy" is located in Mokotów, between Akacjowa, Narbutta, Łowicka and Rakowiecka streets, built in 1928-1932 according to the design of Jan Stefanowicz. The name comes from the characteristic grey brick, which gave colour to the elevations. In addition to the apartments in the buildings, space was created here for shops, a café, a laundry and a meeting room. The estate survived the war in almost unchanged condition. In 1992, the complex of buildings "Szare Domy" was entered into the register of historical monuments.
This wonderfully situated complex of buildings in the very centre of green Old Mokotów is still a destination for architecture students. The estate entered the canon of Warsaw residential architecture of the interwar period, as an example of functional architecture in the Dutch style . To this day, the buildings of the "Szare Domy" Colony are among the most architecturally interesting residential colonies in Mokotów. The inner courtyard is a large, well-kept green area. The estate is characterised by lots of greenery , relatively large apartments and good architecture.
